WARNING: If your date takes you to a place called "Lick It Bite It Or Both," you're gonna get an eyeful.

Our search for the ultimate cupcake continues at this spot in northwest Austin.

Here, you can lick it (housemade ice cream), bite it (fresh cupcakes), or both (Cupshake™).

The name of the place is deliciously unique. The treats we snarfed down (red velvet cupcakes and espresso ice cream) weren't so much.

Our weird and wonderful Valentine's Day tradition has commenced. Red sauce. Red wine. And a massacre.

It started years ago when we lived in Illinois.

Valentine's Day.
Chicago.
"The St. Valentine's Day Massacre" on WGN.

We love Chicago and its history, so it just stuck. We hauled an old VHS copy around with us from state to state and got it out every Feb. 14 to relive classic, before-they-were-stars performances by Jason Robards, George Segal, and Bruce Dern.

As with many favorite movies, some lines are part of our household vernacular and we don't get it when people don't get it. (C'mon ... "I gotta go pay a bill." Everyone knows that's Robards as Capone, right?)

I guess that's the beauty of hanging out with the same guy for more than 30 years. You write your own language of love together and it doesn't matter if no one else speaks it.

My sweetie gave me the perfect date night. Moonlight. Red velvet. A shiny stretch ride. And a 24 carat treat.

Oops. Make that 24 carrot.

Say hey to Hey Cupcake! Without a doubt, the best red velvet and carrot cake I've ever tasted (ever). I knew it would be good when Smiling Cupcake Dude handed me the box. It had the heft of a small melon.

I love the story of this Austin business. From vanilla dreamin' to failure to triumph, it's a little Bobby Flay meets Rocky. And a great example of how to tell your story and build a brand.

If you like short, creative videos, take two minutes to be inspired.

But be warned ... it might get you jonesin' for a hunka hunka Hey Cupcake!
